III. The Northern Terrace – a. General situation

The Northern Terrace partially excavated during the 2010 campaign Gorgerat – Wenning 2010: 264–268. forms the northern end of the complex towards ar-Ramla (Fig. 1). It consists of a rocky plateau which is delimited to the east by a long-stretched rock running from north to south (Fig. 1. 2). The western part is formed by a low incline slope surmounting the entrance to the Sīq and by a steep rocky formation in the north. The main structure of this plateau is doubtlessly tomb BD 24 which was cut in the eastern rock, similar to the triclinium D17 on the Southern Terrace. Finally, more than 50 pit graves in several low hillocks form a boundary to the south and west, parallel to the path along Wādī Mūsa.
